Why People Enjoy Horror Stories

Investigators generally use one of two theories to explain why people like horror movies. The first is that the person is not actually afraid, but excited by the movie. The second explanation is that they are willing to endure the terror in order to enjoy a euphoric sense of relief at the end.ScienceDaily (July 31, 2007)

The Ritual

This is some of the Ritual that I found in the Saya In Underworld page..Quite interesting..
1. The Terror @ 2.

  • At two after midnight look into the mirror with a comb in your mouth:
  • If you can not see your reflection in it, then it means you will die the next day.
2.The Mirror Ritual
  • Prepare four panels of mirror and one candle. Place the mirrors in such a way that when viewed from above they form a square with each side measuring 15cm in length and facing East, West, South and North respectively. Turn off the light and between 12:46 am to 1:13 am, that is for 27 minutes, put the lighted candle inside the square.
Then something very terrifying will appear in the mirrors.
Once there was someone who tried this ritual but seeing the image
shocked him so much that it turned him mute; and so what was really reflected in the mirrors still remains unknown. The terror drove him to gouge out both his eyes while he was in hospital. The only words he managed to utter before he died were: “I wish I had never seen it.”
3. 100 Ghost Stories
  • Prepare 3 rooms (or if that is impossible, 2 rooms will suffice) , adjacent to each other. Preferably these rooms should be arranged in a way that they draw the shape "L" when viewed from above.
  • The room in which group gather should be completely dark; the next room likewise. The third room should contain a hundred andon (a lantern with a wooden flame and paper shade) and a mirror on a table.
  • The paper which the andon is made of should be blue in colour. All participants should also be attired in blue, and all should enter the first room without carrying swords. Put away any other weapons and such dangerous objects from the room (although there were some who would adorn the room with a sword, to ward off evil)
  • When a story is told, the storyteller has to grope his way in the dark to the third room where he is to put out one andon, look himself in the mirror, and return to the first room once more. The group are allowed to continue story-telling while the previous storyteller is away. The stories here do not have to be only about ghosts or monsters; they could be stories of enigma or a curse.
  • When all the stories are told and the true darkness descends, something supernatural will happen.
  • In reality when they used to perform such ritual, they often stopped at 99th story and waited until the daybreak. It was because the true purpose of the ritual was to test one's courage, and they did not want the risk of actually summoning a supernatural being.

My favorite Horror Stories..

Did I ever tell how I love Horror Stories?Nah..I bet I didn't rite..Actually I do love Horror Stories..I really do..But I don't like watching horror stories..There's a different between I read and I watch..If I watch a horror movie I will see the image and it will stuck in my mind almost forever..Whatever I do, I will keep thinking abt it again n again..Quite hard to get rid of it..But if I read, no matter how detail the description abt the ghost, I just create it in my mind without actually seeing the real image..And it can be anything..So after i read a horror stories i read a comic n then Zapp!!My imagination abt the ghost is disappear..ha ha..That the best part of reading..
Well as u can see it, I'm not that brave n P/S: I only read those stories during daylight..But sometimes the horror effect can last quite long..ha ha ha..n as I enjoy it so much, I bookmarked some of the link that my Fav so far..And if u are a fan, just visit the link n enjor u'r reading..
